Aliceliese Lou Nebulis IX, or Alice for short, is the main heroine and deuteragonist of the series. She is the second princess of the Nebulis Sovereignty, and the so-called "Ice Calamity Witch". She is the older sister of Sisbell Lou Nebulis IX and the younger sister of Elletear Lou Nebulis IX.
Appearance[]
Aliceliese is a beautiful young lady with long blonde hair and nice ruby eyes. She is very developed for her age as she has a slender, voluptuous body. She wears a sleeveless primarily white and secondarily red dress with gold trim. She has a collar with a white rose on the center. Her dress is open in the back and has a red bow at the bottom. She wears a blue ribbon wrapped around her left arm, a red ribbon tying her hair, and red high heel shoes.
After becoming queen regent, Alice started wearing a long-sleeved white dress with red accents.
Personality[]
Aliceliese is a calm and kind-hearted person. While she comes off as a cold fighter when she's on the battlefield, Alice isn't much different from a normal girl her age. She is a fan of art and enjoys going to the opera (once cried during a play). She can also be talkative at times.
Being a teenage girl, Alice does have some interest in the opposite gender. Since there weren't many boys around her age growing up, she expresses most of this interest in Iska whenever they're not on the battlefield. Alice even treats their rivalry as something akin to a relationship, becoming extremely jealous of her younger sister and love rival, Sisbell, after seeing her clinging to Iska and eating a piece of smoothie cream from his cheeks. On one occasion, Rin even compared the way Alice was planning for their rematch with preparing for a wedding.
She has a great sense of honor, as she was against all the underhanded tactics Rin used against Iska, preferring to defeat Iska on her own right. In fact, after Rin drugged and kidnapped Iska, Alice purposely left the key to his handcuffs nearby, showing that she disagrees with her subordinate's methods. Like Rin, Alice is also against the method to kill a member of the Nebulis royal family when she is against Kissing's wish to kill Alice's treacherous elder sister, Elletear, shown she still cares for her sister despite her betrayal. Instead, Alice wants to defeat Elletear to save her and bring her back home.
Alice has also shown a slightly perverted side. When Iska stayed in the Lou's family villa, she attempted to pull down Iska's pants since he had seen her panties earlier (from their drawers).
Abilities[]
- Ice: Alice possesses a powerful astral power that allows her to manipulate ice on a large scale comparable to a natural disaster. In addition, she can freeze anything with her powers, surprising Salinger after she froze literal lightning.[1][2]According to Sisbell, Aliceliese's astral power has already surpassed the Queen's.[3][4] Only a few people can rival her, further attesting her incredible strength. Even Iska, who specializes in countering astral mages, has difficulty fighting against her.
- Ice Constructs: She can create objects like swords or vines from her ice, which can be used to attack or bind her enemies. Like Rin, she can also summon an ice golem.
Astral Arts[]
- Great Ice Calamity: With Alice at its center, the area around her will all be covered under a sheet of ice. This spell has a large radius; however, she doesn't have control over it, which is why she doesn't use it near allies.
- Ice Calamity — Thousand Thorn Blizzard: Alice creates a massive number of ice swords that hang in the air. With her command, they all converge onto her target.
- Ice Calamity — Flooding Snow Lights: Summons a large amount of ice spikes and fires them at her target.
- Ice Calamity — Infinitesimal Fans of Light: Summons eight large ice mirrors that reflect astral energy. One faint ray of light is shot from a mirror onto another, multiplying as they reflected off more mirrors. Once they had over a hundred lights, they shot through the target at the center.[5]
- Ice Blossom: Alice's secret technique, which creates a flower-shaped shield of ice. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to call it the ultimate shield, as it is capable of withstanding the Empire's weapons of mass destruction and even block Nebulis's Space-Time Destruction attack.[6] It is eventually revealed that "Ice Blossom" is Alice's Astral Spirit itself, which leaves her body to possess the flower's seed. The reason why Iska couldn't cut her shield is because he can only cut astral energy, not the astral spirit itself.[5]
- Energy Beam: Astral energy concentrates on the seed before shooting it out. Because it comes from the source, an astral spirit, its energy output is incomparable to the beam from "Infinitesimal Fans of Light".
Trivia[]
- She has a blue Astral Crest on her back.
- Alice's favorite food is pasta cooked ben cotta, a quality she shares with Iska.
- Alice has no sense of direction, and without Rin's help, she gets lost very easily. This is shown when she visited Ain's museum without Rin.[7]
- Alice has a phobia of extreme heights. She didn't have a problem flying over the Nelka Forest because she flew at low altitudes; but became extremely agitated, to the point of screaming and tightly hugging Rin, when they were flying over a mountain range.[8]
- Alice shares some similarities with Iris December Uncry from Haru Kaze's Visual Novel, Nora to Oujo to Noraneko Heart 2 (The Princess, the Stray Cat, and Matters of the Heart 2)
- Both are princesses of their respective nations.
- Both can manipulate ice.
- Both have highly devoted attendants who have served them since childhood.
