The Boy and the Witch, Part 1 is the 1st chapter of the Kimi to Boku no Saigo no Senjou, Aruiwa Sekai ga Hajimaru Seisen manga series.
Summary[]
One hundred years ago, the Grand Witch Nebulis turned the Empire into a sea of flames. The Empire, a militaristic nation, and the Nebulis Sovereignty, the country of witches. To this very day, the two countries are still at war.
Standing atop a frozen wasteland, a lone Imperial soldier, Iska, faces the Ice Calamity Witch, who introduces herself as Aliceliese Lou Nebulis IX.
A year ago, Iska freed a young witch from prison, resulting in his life imprisonment. However, the highest powers of the Empire, the Eight Great Apostles, release Iska under the condition that he stops the approaching Ice Calamity Witch. He is given back the Astral Swords and requests for his three team members.
After buying a plate of pasta at a convenience store, Iska stops to enjoy his meal before he is greeted by his former team members: Jhin, Nene, and their captain, Mismis Klass. The 907th Unit is reunited and learn of Iska's current situation, so they head towards the battlefield. Likewise, Aliceliese and her attendant fly towards the front lines.
On the way there, the jeep transporting the 907th Unit is attacked by a squadron of Astral Mages, prompting Iska to stay behind while his teammates move ahead towards the objective. After singlehandedly taking down their attackers, Iska is suddenly attacked by a rock golem as the ground beneath him freezes rapidly, causing him to jump up.
As he lands, he is met by the Ice Calamity Witch.

Manga Differences[]
- The scene where Iska eats a plate of pasta after buying it from the convenience store is completely original to the manga. And the scene that follows, where Jhin opens Iska's beverage with his sharpshooter skills, is new as well.
- Due to the comedic nature of the manga, the part where Mismis falls down after reuniting with Unit 907 was attributed to her oversized breasts.
- In the light novel, Unit 907 went to the Nelka Forest to protect a reactor which was intended to power an Imperial weapon. But in the manga, they are protecting the long-distance artillery instead.
