"Intersection: Battle for the Vortex" (交差 ―ボルテックス攻防―, Kōsa -Borutekkusu Kōbō-) is the fourth episode of the KimiSen anime series.
Synopsis[]
100 years ago, a drift of astral energy created a vortex which cursed, or gifted, people with astral power. Now another vortex has formed, triggering a race between the Empire and the Nebulis Sovereignty to acquire it.
Summary[]
Iska, Mismis, Jhin, and Nene are at a casino in Jurak. Two weeks ago, Risya informed the team's captain, Mismis, that the team had a last chance for vacation before training commences. So Mismis brought them to a casino in order to win the jackpot and buy a tank for the safety of the team.
Rin and Alice also arrive at the casino for some relaxation, much to the princess' displeasure, as Rin brought her to another neutral city to avoid Iska. Even so, Alice can't stop thinking about the former Saint Disciple. While playing the slots, Alice wins the jackpot and gives her earnings to Nene, so the mechanic shares the good news with the rest of her team.
Later that night, Rin and Alice wind up at a fortune teller. The psychic's interpretation points out about Alice and Iska's unbreakable bond and destiny. After they leave, Iska and his friends arrive at the same fortune-teller. Iska inquires about Alice, and the psychic gives out the same card readings.
At the Empire, Risya informs the Senate about the vortex. The Senate wants to send Iska's squad to the vortex, much to Risya's displeasure. The following morning, Risya informs the team about another mission, to capture the vortex.
Meanwhile, Rin informs Alice about the new vortex. However, they conclude that the Zoa's branch of the royal family kept it hidden because they want the vortex for themselves. So Alice and Rin visit Lord Mask, the acting head of the family, to inquire about the vortex and his role. He comes up with a somewhat believable excuse for the delay about the vortex's report, and also issues a warning to the princess.
The next day, the squad is at the rendezvous point and meet Shanorotte Gregory. The commander of the operation, Nameless, gathers the soldiers and gives them their tasks: to secure the vortex before the other party or destroy it if they fail to do so, and finally to stay out of his way.
The team goes in search of the vortex, but they can't find it. Mismis then receives a media message from Shanorette, informing her about an unit that went MIA searching for the vortex and that they lost communication with the two other units that was sent to look for them. All the units regroup at the base, where Nameless doesn't issue an order to rescue the missing soldiers.
Iska decides to question Nameless about his decision, but Nameless ignores Iska seeing that the latter isn't the same rank as the him. So Mismis walks in and asks Nameless in Iska's stead.
Elsewhere, Lord Mask and Kissing Zoa Nebulis IX are getting ready for the upcoming events.

Anime Differences[]
- There is an error in the Anime when Nene explains that someone won the jackpot and gave her the winnings, since Alice handed her the bucket with the coins she was planning to use, not the coins she won from the slot machine. This is because in the Light Novel, Alice scooped coins from the jackpot and handed them to Nene.
- In the light novel, the one who relayed Sisbell's message about the vortex to Alice was Shuvalts, not Rin.
