Allies[]
Mismis Klass[]
The captain of Unit 907, Iska's squad. Iska respects her very much and chose to work under her despite being a Saint Disciple. After she became an Astral Mage, Iska told her that neither he nor the other members will sell her out to the Empire and that they will eventually find a way to help her. They even agreed to cooperate with an Astral Mage for Mismis's sake.
Nene Alkastone[]
Nene is very affectionate towards Iska. Upon learning that he was released, Nene jumps onto Iska and hugs him. She thinks of him as a brother[1], and often calls him "Iska-nii."
Jhin Syulargun[]
Jhin is Iska's best friend, and a fellow student of the Black Steel Gladiator. If Iska was asked who the man he trusted the most was, he wouldn't hesitate to say Jhin.[2]
Crosswell Nes Lubigate[]
A former Saint Disciple of the Empire, and the Black Steel Gladiator. Crosswell was the one who trained Iska and gave him the Astral Swords. He traveled all over the continent with Iska, imparting him knowledge of the world. In Light Novel Volume 10, Iska and Jhin reunited with their former master who tells Iska to take Sisbell to the Emperor, since Eve Sophi Nebulis has awakened her slumber again.
Nebulis Sovereignty[]
Aliceliese Lou Nebulis IX[]
Alice is Iska's main rival and love interest (although he has not yet realized it). Both have clashed multiple times on the battlefield; and every time, they have proven to be equally matched in experience, skill, and power. Despite being told that capturing her would further his goal of world peace, Iska began to question if it really would, as he knew the type of person Alice truly was.
Later, when Alice released him after she and Rin kidnapped him, Iska chose to come back and help them fight Salinger, despite it being an internal matter within the Sovereignty. Alice later helped Iska to defeat the Witch Hunter to save her little sister, Sisbell Lou Nebulis IX, from being captured.
The two would later team up to fight Subject E, a threat so dangerous that requires both the Empire and Sovereignty to work together. After Elletear betrayed Alice, Iska spent some time with Alice and made her food. Later that night when they heading to the Oasis where Elletear is, he overhears Alice's inner conflict and tells her that she will always be Alice to him, even if she loses her powers or status.
Sisbell Lou Nebulis IX[]
Sisbell is the Astral Mage whom Iska freed one year ago because she was just a little girl with a weak Astral Power. The two would later reunite while Unit 907 was on vacation in Alsamira. Iska immediatedly recognized Sisbell as the same girl who he freed one year ago.
After being freed from captivity, Sisbell came to trust Iska as someone with good intentions. She believes the only way to save her country from a certain threat within the Sovereignty is to get Iska to cooperate with her. Although he initially refused, he eventually agreed after Sisbell offered Unit 907 skin bandages that could hide Mismis' Astral Crest.
As per their contract, he will do his best to protect her, as shown in his fight against Vichyssoise and Talisman. When the Empire attacked Central State, he told Alice that he didn't care about what happened to the Sovereignty or the Queen, but he won't abandon Sisbell.[3] After she was kidnapped by members of the Hydra Family for experiments, Iska once again rescued Sisbell, resulting of the death of Kelvina Sofita Elmos. During their fight with Luclezeus, Iska once more saved Sisbell yet again by pushing her away from the laserbeam that Luclezeus fired. Sisbell used to her illusion powers to help Iska and the Unit 907 by distracting Luclezeus, allowing the Unit to kill the Apostle by destroying a cage containing an Astral Spirit.
Like her older sister, Alice, Sisbell is also in love with Iska. The two also went out for a "date", though it was nothing more than just Iska escorting her to avoid either the Zoa or Hydra Family. At that time, Sisbell clung to Iska and removed a piece of smoothie cream from his cheeks to eat it, much to his dismay and Alice's jealousy. While carrying her, Sisbell's breasts are pressed on to Iska's back as well the princess commented that her breasts are way bigger than Rin's. Iska remarked that Sisbell is very energetic.
Elletear Lou Nebulis IX[]
When Elletear cornered Unit 907 upon meeting for the first time, Iska was reminded of the Eight Great Apostles, who bent the will of others using any possible type of coercion.[4] Elletear later attempted to seduce him, causing Iska to blush and look away instinctively. However, when she eyed him suggestively, he felt like a predator pinning its prey with its gaze.[5] Elletear later asked Iska to sleep with her for the night.
Despite what she has done, Iska still won't kill Elletear nor does he have a grudge on her at all due to his moral code. Instead, he is willing to defeat Elletear in order to save her for both Alice and Sisbell's sakes, just so they would bring their older sister back home for her crimes.
Rin Vispose[]
At first, Rin wanted to get rid of him because he would be a powerful opponent later on. After spending more time with him, she realized that he would hinder Alice's potential as Queen, which fueled her desire to get rid of him even more. For this reason, she went as far as to drug him in a neutral city and kidnapped him. While in their custody, she wanted to cripple and imprison him, which Alice was strongly against. It wasn't until he saved her from Salinger that she came to see him in a different light.
After Sisbell was kidnapped by the Hydra family and sent to the Empire for experiments, the two successfully worked together to rescue Sisbell and cause Kelvina's death. And when Risya captured Rin afterward, Iska and his allies went to the Imperial capital to get her back from the Emperor (who wanted Sisbell's Astral Power).
Kissing Zoa Nebulis IX[]
Iska first met Kissing while rescuing Mismis from the enemy base, which led to a battle in which he defeated Kissing. Because she was a pureblood descendant of Nebulis, Iska attempted to capture her in order to force peace negotiations between their nations, but Lord Mask appeared and rescued her.
After Elletear's betrayal, the two would fight again after Kissing attacked the Empire's military headquarters looking for him but only to be defeated by Iska once more when Kissing accepted her surrender to him. She did it to confirm his strength and forms an alliance with Iska to defeat Elletear. Despite agreeing their alliance, he still won't kill Elletear as Kissing wishes due to his moral code.
Enemies[]
Eight Great Apostles[]
The Eight Great Apostles were Iska's former superiors turned enemies.
They freed Iska to capture the "Ice Calamity Witch" in exchange for his freedom. Little did Iska know, the Apostles were just using him as a pawn the entire time. Later on, Iska was proven to be an extremely threat to the Eight Great Apostles' schemes, as he and his friends (including Sisbell) were slowly uncovering the truth that the Apostles hid for a long time, earning the former Saint Disciple, his team and the Nebulis princess targets on their backs. After the death of Kelvina Sofita Elmos, one of the Eight Apostles, Luclezeus was sent to kill Iska, Sisbell and the 907th Unit in attempt from unveiling the truth but only to fail and the Apostle was killed soon afterwards.
Johaim Leo Armadel[]
Johaim was Iska's former fellow colleague of the Saint Disciples. During the chaos in the Heavenly Empire, Iska confronted Johaim, realizing he is a traitor. Johaim attempting to stop Iska from teaming up with Alice against Elletear but soon got away with his master.
