Rin Vispose is one of the supporting characters of KimiSen. She is Alice's attendant and bodyguard, as well as an astral mage of earth.
Appearance[]
Rin has long brown hair and yellow eyes. She wears a black and white maid uniform, a housekeeping apron, and brown boots.
In the manga, during her mission to Liesbaden to protect Sisbell, Rin wore a black sweatshirt with two horn-like designs on the hoodie, and white boots.
Personality[]
Rin is highly devoted to Alice, having served her since childhood. She will do whatever it takes to ensure Alice's dreams become a reality. Because of this resolve, Rin is ready to use dirty and dishonorable methods for her master's sake, regardless if Alice approves of them or not. Such as poisoning Iska while in a Neutral City and taking him hostage, or attempting to attack him while he was restrained, all of which Alice was against and even threatened to punish Rin if she tried anything else behind her back.[1] In all of these cases, she wanted to create a cover story to avoid looking like a bad guy. However, after Iska saved her from Salinger, Rin's personality turned slightly more honorable, and became more accepting of working with Imperial soldiers like Unit 907 (They worked together to rescue Princess Sisbell).
In battle, Rin is calm yet arrogant, often looking down on her opponent and seeing them as far beneath her. This stems from her position as an attendant of the Nebulis Royal family. This is her greatest weakness as it has led her to be bested and humiliated several times, like in her battle against Iska. Even when she gets defeated, she doesn't like admitting how strong they were out of pride.
Due to her loyalty towards the Nebulis Royal Family, Rin takes crimes against them very seriously and won’t forgive the perpetrators, like Salinger who attacked the previous queen. Even after being utterly defeated by Salinger, she still looked up at him with scorn. She is also against the method to kill a member of the Nebulis royal bloodline because it would bring shame upon the royal family, such as Kissing when she wants to kill Elletear.
Rin has an inferiority complex when it comes to her bust size, especially when compared to her more developed master. She is also very intelligent, as she correctly deduced that it was Elletear who leaked Sisbell's location to the Zoa family as well later her suspicion about Elletear's treason turn out to be true during the chaos at the Heavenly Empire.
Abilities[]
- Combat Mastery: Aside from her astral powers, Rin is skilled in both close-range combat and weapon proficiency, to the point of being considered a genius by her teacher. She mastered the sword, spear, archery, espionage, assassination, and even torture.[2] However, her skills pale in comparison to those of Iska.
Astral Arts[]
- Earth Astral Power: Rin is an astral mage who can control the earth, which she mainly uses to create golems. She can also slow down her opponents by turning the ground into mud, or launch rock spears from the ground. Unlike other elementalists, earth mages cannot create soil and have to rely on existing soil to manipulate.
Equipment[]
- Hidden Arsenal: Hidden beneath Rin's uniform are daggers, metal needles, garrote wires, and even a small set of explosives.[2]
- Bottles of Soil: During the infiltration of Elza's Sarcophagus, Rin brought twenty bottles of soil hidden in the underside of her outfit. This would ensure that she would never become powerless due to the main weakness of earth mages. Each jar can hold about 50 grams of soil, and breaking them will give her soil to use.[3]
Trivia[]
- Rin shares many similarities with Ai Hayasaka from the series Kaguya-sama Love is War. They both serve as maids of the main heroines, are both skilled in many fields, and share Yumiri Hanamori as their voice actors.
- Rin's Astral Crest is located in her buttocks.[4]
- Rin shares some similarities with Noel (the Next Season) from the Visual Novel, Nora to Oujo to Noraneko Heart 2 (The Princess, the Stray Cat, and Matters of the Heart 2)
- Both are highly devoted attendants/servants to their respective ice-manipulating princesses, having served them since childhood
- Both will do whatever it takes for their princesses' sake or ensure their happiness/make their dreams become a reality
- Both are skilled in close-range and possess elemental abilities, and both can use the environment for their abilities to slow down their opponents or make them lose balance.
