"When it comes down to it, my employer is the Lord. Your demands are requests and not commands. I bow to only one—and one alone.”"
— Risya In Empire, Volume 2 Intermission

Risya In Empire is the fifth seat of the Saint Disciples, and the right hand of the Emperor.

Appearance[]

Risya is a beautiful woman with tied-back brown hair and red eyes. Her face is shrewd and graceful, complementing the black-rimmed glasses that make her look smart. Coupled with her slim and tall stature, she made a normal battle uniform look quite good.

She had a certain air about her, as though she was an influential businesswoman or the daughter of a big-shot CEO.[1]

Risya is usually seen wearing a navy blue trench coat, a blouse with necktie, white pants, and black high heels.

In both the Anime and Manga, Risya was virtually indistinguishable from Nameless while she was wearing the Empire's adaptive camouflage suit. This is not helped by the fact that their suits use voice modulators, further making it harder to tell who is who. When one of the Eight Great Apostles went out to kill both the 907th Unit and Sisbell Lou Nebulis IX, Risya also went out to protect both the Unit and Sisbell from Luclezeus just so the Emperor himself needs the truth behind the 100 years war.

Personality[]

Despite her friendly persona, she is actually a cold and calculating woman, willing to use her subordinates to achieve her objectives. She convinced Unit 907 that Iska was most likely held at Orelgan, using them as decoys while she made a clean getaway after breaking Salinger free, her true objective at the prison spire.

However, she does have a soft spot for Mismis and the rest of Unit 907, and wouldn't have done that if she wasn't sure they were capable of fending off for themselves. She didn't have to rescue Iska, the Eight Great Apostles told her to ignore it, but she still went out of her way to help Unit 907 to sneak into the Nebulis Sovereignty. When one of the Apostles, Luclezeus was sent out to kill the 907th unit and Sisbell in attempt to stop them unveiling the truth, Risya helped them as she and the Emperor needs Sisbell alive and unharmed for her powers.

Abilities[]

  • Genius-level Intellect: Risya could be called "an unparalleled jack-of-all-trades genius." She graduated at the top of her class, mastering everything from academics, martial arts, gunmanship, and survival skills to strategic command.[2]
    • Strategic command: She is very good at making plans and strategizing, earning her a spot at military headquarters as a special guest. In fact, the Eight Great Apostles had acknowledged her skills as a staff officer, giving her a commanding role in the special mission to capture the Queen of the Sovereignty.[1]
    • Combat Prowess: Risya possessed enough physical strength and combat skill to put most male soldiers to shame.[3] When she returned from Alcatroz after testing out the new battle suit, Nameless told her: "you would never need that toy in the first place", suggesting that there is more to Risya's combat abilities than what is known.[4]
  • Weave: It is later revealed that Risya has the power to create astral threads from her fingertips, which are thinner than hair and could be used to either capture or restraint her targets. It was a 4th generation astral spirit that never existed in the Sovereignty since it was retrieved from a Vortex in the Empire.[5] However, because she obtained power of "Weave" through artificial means, it will only last for a week before fading away.

Equipment[]

  • Adaptive camouflage suit (formerly): Risya wore a new, experimental version of the photochemical suit worn by Nameless. This was part of an effort to mass-produce pseudo-superhumans, as it was more efficient for a person to don a suit that would give them superhuman strength than to train elite soldiers like Nameless or Iska.[4]
    • Physical Augmentation: Unlike Nameless' suit, which only provides optical camouflage, Risya's has an additional physical strengthening function.[6] However, because of the strong exoskeleton, a normal human could not keep up with the pressure and heat inside.[4] This made the experiment a failure, and it would take another decade to improve.

Trivia[]

  • Risya has dual citizenship from both the Empire and the Nebulis Sovereignty, which she most likely obtained with a fake Astral Crest.
  • Risya's cryptic line about being 22 for the fourth time can either mean that she stopped aging or she's somehow resetting her age. She also states that it wasn't because of any drugs or surgery, it was "much more painful and frightening".[5]
